Antoni Chia was born in Capellades in 1967. His interest in painting is manifested from a very young age. At the age of 12 he begins his training under the tutelage of the master painter Amadeo Freixas Vivó, who will have a decisive influence on his career, transmitting to him constancy in his work and tenacity in his ideas, both artistic and human.
At the age of 16, he wins his first painting prize, which is a great stimulus to continue painting and to expand his artistic knowledge. He combined his high school and then university studies with various jobs, finally getting a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
In 1993 he marries and moves to Mediona. It is a moment of great importance in his life since he decided to dedicate himself to painting. As a result of his tenacity and determination, he held his first individual exhibitions in Municipal Halls (Capellades-1994-, La Pobla de Claramunt-1994-, Cambrils-1994-…).
In 1998, a solo exhibition at the Forum Berger Balaguer of the Caixa del Penedès, in Vilafranca del Penedès, opens the doors to exhibit in prestigious galleries.

Jesús Arribas (painter and graduate in Fine Arts) writes us these words: “Nature is a subject that has always provoked in the artist a special attraction, awakening in his creative capacity the need to present purely plastic proposals before the will to participate in it. Antoni Chia makes us get his most immediate proposals from his paintings, in which it is evident his sincere intention to share the accumulation of sensations and emotions that the landscape in which he is integrated arouses in him. In this way, with his compositions he shows us his expressive potential, where the pictorial matter, the commensurate language of color and the gesture of the brushstroke derive in a work that encompasses all the naturalness of artistic creation”.
Llop S. (art critic) wrote: “Impulsive and serene at the same time, materialistic and expanding in a wide and chromatically rich brushstroke… Gesture and sensitivity, strength and lyricism at the same time, allow him to create a beautiful work”.
Josep M. Cadena (art critic): “Antonio Chia does not pretend anything more than to transfer to the canvas the satisfaction of the human being who is pleased with the harmony of his environment. It is an honest painting within its simplicity. The painter knows how to communicate his feelings“.
