The origin

Sala Rusiñol is a gallery of figurative art, heiress to the legacy of the painter Miquel Cabanas.

Ignasi Cabanas, his son, was the founder in 1986, driven by pictorial experiences that, as a child, accompanied him at home.

2020

The year 2020 is marked by the pandemic we have suffered as a result of Covid-19. For this reason, and following health indications, it has been the first time in our history that we have not celebrated our anniversary during the month of May. Aware that health is paramount, once this first wave had subsided, we decided to postpone the celebration until December.

On 17 December we inaugurated an extraordinary exhibition-homage to our beloved Ramón Aguilar Moré on the fifth anniversary of his transfer. A demanding selection of works from his private collection saw the light of day for the first time in an exhibition.

Without an audience in the Sala Rusiñol, and making use of Instagram, we were able to reach all our followers. The art critic Josep M. Cadena and two of the artist’s sons (Alex and Marc) were the guiding thread of the event.

2021

May. For this special date we have chosen Pilarín Bayés as the artist with whom to celebrate our 35th anniversary of cultural activity. Pilarín is a point of reference for many of us, as we have grown up with her books and illustrations.

On May 13 we inaugurated “The 7 Wonders of the World”. The event was accompanied by The Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Àngels Ponsa, the Minister of Digital Policies, Jordi Puigneró, the Mayor of Sant Cugat, Mireia Ingla, the Vice President of the Provincial Council, Carmela Fortuny, as well as a representation of municipal councilors.

2022

May.  To celebrate our 36th anniversary we wanted to pay tribute to Josep Baqués, an artist with close ties to the Sala Rusiñol who left us in 2021.

We have been able to carry out this exhibition thanks to the collaboration of his children, who have allowed us access to his private collection, in order to select the most emblematic works that we have exhibited from 12 May to 14 June. His daughter Lidia accompanied us on the opening day and read a moving text in which she and her two brothers remembered their father and the artist.

2023

May.  We dedicate the 37th Anniversary to the artist Nacho Amor. His work cannot be separated from his intense experience in the restoration of works of art since from 1979 to the end of 1984 he settled in Aramengo de Asti (Italy), focusing his training in Laboratory of Restauro Nicola where he collaborated in the restoration of works exhibited in different Italian museums and public entities.

The taste for surface and material, together with contrast and chiaroscuro, has been outlining an intimate and absolutely personal style with character.

Two guided tours were organized throughout the exhibition. One, from the hand and the artist himself, and the other from the hand of the art and culture technician Rafa Burgos where they talked about the colors and matter in the work of Nacho Amor.

Also noteworthy is that during this exhibition the initiative “Snacks in the Sala Rusiñol “ was started, which aims to foster interest and appreciation of art in children and adults, while we have a snack. With this action we want to promote personal contact with the artist and the art gallery at a time like the current one when it is easy to get lost in virtuality.
