MADRID, 1945 Pere Lluís León

The color in his works not only defines the composition, but also transmits a unique dynamism. He often uses vibrant colors, creating intense contrasts or delicate transitions that capture the viewer’s attention.

His compositions tend to be free and fluid, often moving away from concrete representations to explore more intuitive and emotional forms.

PERE LLUÍS LEÓN

Installed in Barcelona, he began his drawing studies at a very young age in Llotja, and later continued them at the Escola Massana. Shortly after, he lived in Brussels and Rotterdam where he combined work with self-taught studies.

Back in Barcelona, he works in different advertising studios specializing in advertising and medical illustration. He exhibits figurative watercolors of his own technique at the Biblioteca de Catalunya.

He founded and directed, together with the Barna Center group, the Art Market in the Plaza de Sant Josep Oriol in Barcelona and exhibited.

In 1996 he came into contact with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona where he carried out anatomical illustration work for teaching programs for medical students. He specializes in medical and scientific illustration, carried out in both traditional and digital techniques, working for the Faculty of Medicine of Barcelona and the UAB, as well as the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and different hospitals in Catalonia and France. Also in specialized medical journals around the world.

He currently combines scientific illustration work with painting and graphic work, holding exhibitions throughout Catalonia.

We could define his work between abstract expressionism and neo-cubism, although in reality he draws from different sources. Although he has works that flirt with the figurative, Pere Lluís León stands out in his ability to move towards abstraction. His compositions tend to be free and fluid, often moving away from concrete representations to explore more intuitive and emotional forms. This allows you to connect with the viewer in a more personal way.

The color in his works not only defines the composition, but also transmits a unique dynamism. He often uses vibrant colors, creating intense contrasts or delicate transitions that capture the viewer’s attention. The application of color seems to be imbued with a lyrical sense, evoking moods and emotional landscapes.

His production includes several series in which color, light and abstract or figurative forms are combined to express deep sensations and emotions, often connected to the landscape, memory or experiences.

Pere Lluís León is a dreamer who delights in the autonomous dance of life. He is driven by the desire to portray our world through an optimistic, almost hedonistic vision, navigating the ebbs and flows of human emotions. With a collection titled “Life in Color,” his work is filled with everyday feelings, embodying inherently human emotions, where figures within context whimsically align with the moods of the subject or subjects or, perhaps, boldly challenge them.

Framing Pere Lluís León is an arduous task; clearly tinged with cubist influences, we are faced with a singular artist whose original works spectacularly infuse color into our Mediterranean lives, distilling extraversion and a side of symbolism and criticism.
