BIOGRAPHY
At the age of 14 he entered to study mechanics at the Industrial School. As I needed studies in lineal and artistic drawing, I was going, for hours, at the Baixas Academy. There he had the first contact with painting. During a stay in Tarragona, while doing military service, he painted watercolors from nearby places and some portraits. Already in Barcelona, in 1947, he exhibited with members of the Agrupació de Acuarelistas de Cataluña. In 1954 he was awarded the Accésit for the Montcada Painting Prize and the Honorable Mention for new artists at the Palau de la Virreina. His work went through constructivism, post-cubism and a certain abstraction until in 1960, again, he returns to figuration as an element of expression of emotions and ways of life. It will be in Paris, at Le Club des 4 vientos where he presents his new painting. In Barcelona he will not do it until 1963, the year in which he created the Visual Reality group with Rafael Duran, Roca-Sastre, Josep Serra Llimona and J. Pagans Montsalvatge, among others, defending the idea that painting oscillates between the representation of external reality and the expression of feeling. Throughout his long career he has exhibited in the main galleries of our country and has won prestigious awards such as the Ynglada Guillot drawing or Rosa Vera engraving.
