REUS, 1923 – BARCELONA, 2006 Morató Aragonés

His work evolves towards a progressive geometrization that, over time, gave way to an intimate lyricism of soft forms.

He was able to synthesize, in a personal work, solid and with character, some of the main features of the currents of 20th century painting.

BIOGRAPHY

He began pictorially in Cornudella de Montsant (Priorat) where he came into contact with artists such as Ignacio Mallol and Joan Rebull. At the age of 17 he won the Fortuny Medal, when he moved to Barcelona where he studied Fine Arts. In 1950 he made his first trip to Paris where he was influenced by Cézanne and later, in 1954, he discovered Bouffey and Chagall, when he entered the expressionist development, with marked profiles, accented features and preferred by the grays, blues and the cold tonalities. A year later, and after a stay in Italy, he began to work with studio painting, freeing himself from the natural.

His work evolves towards a progressive geometrization that, over time, gave way to an intimate lyricism of soft forms. He was able to synthesize, in a personal work, solid and with character, some of the main features of the twentieth century painting trends. Honorary Member of the International Painting Fund, received numerous awards and distinctions among which we can highlight the Gold Medal of the City of Reus, the Merit Member of the Royal Artistic Circle of Barcelona or the Medal of the Roger History and Art Foundation Belfort.
