SPIRIT OF HUMAN OVERCOMING IN RUIPEREZ PAINTING

by Josep M. Cadena

Ramon Gutiérrez Ruiperez signs only with his second surname. The painter is projected into our art as Ruiperez, and according to his desire, I am pleased to present his paintings in what, I believe, is his first exhibition in the Rusiñol Gallery in Sant Cugat. And I say joy because, unaware as he was so far of his work, I find in this a sense, precise and agile at the same time, correct in its way of capturing reality, since it knows how to combine what is current and immediate with what constitutes the historical achievements of the society to which we belong.

That is to say: Ruiperez captures with his painting the solidity of the proposal of constant human progress with, as an example, the bridges and skyscrapers of New York in combination with the spirituality of sound that with his outdoor music expand spontaneous artistic groups that circulate through the streets and parks of the great American city. And without stopping at the balance already reached between work and leisure, he knows how to look at dance as a means of expression for some dancers who in their rhythm, in the meditated gesture and in the movement that comes within affirm their individuality in harmony with the environment and the community. That is why his female figures in full dance, as well as their studies and portraits, go far beyond what is the good observation of the chosen models and exude psychological study.

I have been told that Ruiperez is a great lover of jazz and that when he does his painting he is always accompanied in his studio by several compositions of this music so representative of the feelings of a humanity that was striving to overcome the economic, social and racial problems in which She was unfairly subjected. I am not surprised that this is so, because in all this painter’s work I find a firm and constant desire for collective justice, convinced that if aesthetics is unethical, it can never be maintained, as one university professor said. some convulsive moments. And although he never wants to instruct us with his creation, but he does it with an expressive naturalness, he manages to get us to think that the love of painting can help us to be better by introducing ourselves to it to please the spirit with the harmonies. So be it in this year 2014 that has just begun.
