The Rusiñol Gallery celebrates its 23rd Anniversary with the extraordinary exhibition of Raffaello Ossola (Locarno, Switzerland), titled “Immagini immaginate”. It is an imposing work: because of the dimension of his paintings, the strength of his colours and the bright luminosity of his oils. Impressive too because of what he communicates through his “imagined images “. Tangible images taken from the very Nature (water and, mostly, trees) and the outer space above (the cosmos, the sky), creatively intertwined in evocative horizons, that, as conceived by him, can only exist in our imagination and in the canvas. In three words, it is a “true interstellar navigation“ (Josep Mª Cadena).
Mr. Ignasi Cabanas, director of the Rusiñol Gallery, introducing and welcoming Raffaello Ossola. In this exceptional inauguration, the Consul of Switzerland, Mr. Hans-Rudolf Bolli and the culture local councilor of the Sant Cugat Town Hall, Mr. Xavier Escura, also joined us. They are pictured with the painter and the Rusiñol Gallery personnel.
Mr. Josep Mª Cadena, reporter and art critic, appraising Raffaello Ossola’s work. This is one of his remarks: “In Raffaello Ossola’s painting throbs the great question about eternity which human beings aim to. One way or other, we all hope to reach the beyond that we symbolize in the line of the horizon or in the Down”.
The artist delivers a few words: “I have always liked to isolate myself to mull over life, and I have often preferred to do it in very special environments, in deep contact with nature and the elements. It is a way of growing that has become an ingredient of my life (…). With my painting I have wished to depict those moments untied to time, space and those limits our daily chores impose upon us. I have sought a way to say it is not always what it looks like and, mostly, I have tried to remember that dreams may come true if one really believes in them”.
A tradition in all inaugurations at the Rusiñol Gallery: an art note from the artists is raffled among the audience. Here we see Raffaello Ossola delivering to the winner a very elaborate “art note”: so detailed that, to be also fair, we should judge it as another “work of art”.
