Ignasi Cabanas, the Rusiñol Gallery’s manager and son of the honored Miquel Cabanas Alibau (1916-1995) is speaking about the sense of this exhibition with the title “The Sant Cugat of Miquel Cabanas”.
Ignasi also talks about familiar memories and he is reading some paragraphs from the book of poems “Voiliaina, twelve chosen poems” written by his father.
Later, Mr. Josep M. Cadena spoke to us about Miquel Cabanas not only as a painter, but also about his poetic profile. He highlighted the 27 paintings exhibited and selected by Miriam Cabanas —granddaughter of the artist— that gave us a view of Sant Cugat from the end of 70’ up to 1994, one year before his death.
Now the historian Domènec Miquel is speaking and giving an interesting dissertation about the changes suffered by the old village of Sant Cugat to the current city. The speaker remarked the growth of population and the urban transformation.
Frederic Cabanas, who is also a son of the artist, is reading emotively a letter addressed to his father. This letter, written by a friend of the artist, reflects clearly the personality and the feelings of Miquel Cabanas both as a painter and a poet.
Finally, Jordi Franquesa —a reader of rhapsodies and a friend— gave away the reading of two poems of Miquel Cabanas, collected in the book “Voiliaina, twelve chosen poems”, which were very emotive for the attendees, particularly for the members of the Cabanas’ family.
